2. Image Preprocessing

2.1 Reduce Color Complexity

Overly complex photos aren't suitable for direct conversion:

  1. Pixelate/mosaic the image first (using Photoshop, GIMP, etc.)
  2. Resize to target grid size (e.g., 50x50 pixels)
  3. Reduce colors to 15-30

2.2 Boost Contrast

Blurry images lose depth after conversion. Increase contrast and saturation appropriately.

2.3 Use Cartoon/Pixel Art Sources

Cartoon characters, pixel art, and emojis have fewer colors and clearer edges — perfect for conversion.

3. Manual Refinement

3.1 Edge Cleanup

After auto-conversion, edges may look "jagged." Use the eraser tool to clean up stray pixels.

3.2 Color Replacement

If a color looks off, find a closer match from the brand palette and replace it manually.

3.3 Add Highlights and Shadows

Manually add colors 1-2 shades lighter/darker than the base for a 3D effect.
